Mongol Rally Girls

Extreme Adventure raising awareness and funds
for Children and Families in Extreme Need.

It's a crazy adventure, but someone's got to do it…

Three girls will leave the comforts of their homes and set off on the
journey of a lifetime in July 2010.

They are flying to London, England; but not for a typical vacation.

They are driving to Mongolia; but not in a suitable vehicle.

The three adventurers are driving – and likely pushing - a 1.2 litre engine car.
Yes, the vehicle is ridiculously unsuitable for a 10 000 km journey that will take
them through countries most people have never heard of and terrain that most
   people can’t imagine.

Of course the girls have a plan; it just doesn’t include a guide, a route,
   or a back-up.

You might be wondering why anyone in their right mind would take on such a
   foolish mission.

Practising the Art of Duct Tape,
because we're going to need it!
The answer is simple: to raise thousands of dollars for charity.

Our names are Megan Unruh, Ashley Leighton of Kamloops BC and our
newest team member, Jen Turnball from Australia.

Here's the adventure! Who wouldn't want to do this?  Besides, don't you think it's time to get some girls in this event!

We're the girls who are going to star in the next adventurer promo dvd!

Megan Unruh and Ashley Leighton  are the founding members of The Mongol Rally Girls, one of 500 international teams ‘racing’ across 1/3 of the Earth’s surface in the 2010 Mongol Rally. Also 1 of only a handful of Canadian teams involved.

The Mongol Rally is the largest charity rally in the world, and likely the most amusing.  Started in 2002, the charity event has achieved international attention because, well, it’s rather unusual.  The rally has only three rules: you are responsible for yourself; you must raise at least 1000 pounds for a local and Mongolian charity; and your vehicle must have a 1.2 litre engine.  The third rule, however, is negotiable if your vehicle has significant comedic value or might be useful to the Mongolian government when you inevitably leave it behind.

We are blissfully excited as we prepare for the journey that awaits us and though we know the journey will be difficult, we are up for the challenge.  Each of us have travelled extensively ....collectively we have spent more than 14 years exploring and wandering this amazing planet from Europe to Africa, The Middle East to Asia.

But we’re not just participating in the Mongol Rally to satisfy our urge for adventure; we are trying to raise money for three very deserving charities in Mongolia and one in Kamloops, BC:

  • The Kamloops Boys and Girls Club
  • Children and Young People's Protection and Development
  • Mercy Corps.   (Check out the video below!)

Extreme gratitude for your support and encouragement as we contribute to these worthwhile charities who help children and families locally and globally.

Please go to Our Charities/Donate  to donate to any of our causes.

PLease go to Sponsors for a blissful array of ways we can help you and you can help us!
